People consider themselves Moldovans/Moldavians, Romanians, Russians, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Gagauz, Jewish and maybe some other. Moldovans/Moldavians are essentially (and scientifically) Romanians, and together they make for 80% of the population of the country. This topic is a bit controversial - here is an article on wiki about it. It also depends on who you ask :)
