Flying Lotus today (11.12.2011) at Rote Fabrik, Zurich.
This man makes beautiful music…and he is totally charming. I danced with delight all the time, but kept on looking at him, he has contagious smile and moves.
and a small deviation… the fact that Flying Lotus (and many other artists) will not play any time soon in Moldova is a good reason (among many) for me to not want to live in Moldova.
and with the performing, comes the following type of conversations (approximate reproduction, sorry for any small inaccuracies):
FL: I’m trying to get high. anybody has a joint? pass it to the front.
and he comes toward the crowd. a guy gives him a joint. FL goes back, plays some more stuff, smokes a bit, then returns the joint.
when there was another talking moment… the guy with the joint asked how was it…
FL: alright. but I’m from California… when I have European people smoking at my place, they would be crawling on the floor.
music music music and at the end asks for another joint, nobody is passing it to the front, he comes down into the crowd, talks to people, gets a smoke.
totally cool.
Spank Rock
This evening should’ve been a Flying Lotus one, at Rote Fabrik in Zurich, but unfortunately due to some flight delays, he couldn’t make it. Luckily the gig was rescheduled for Sunday.
But… 1 or 2 days ago I wrote on couchsurfing (I’ll write about my CS experience in a special post), asking, of course, “By any chance, is anybody going to Flying Lotus?” A Russian guy answered. We met just in front of Rote Fabrik, when everybody was finding out that Flying Lotus gig is cancelled.
The guy from Russia and his friend from France had a plan B… Spank Rock at Stall 6 (another cool place in Zurich). Never heard about Spank Rock, but I thought why not… Spank Rock turned out to be lots of fun and dancing… again, I’m glad I am able to like something just from the moment I get acquainted with it (maybe this means - love at first sight exists for me :))… and danced all the time, at the end was also invited on stage (with some other people) to “shake that ass” :))
