Jewellery Unleashed! @ Museum Bellerive, Zurich

Bellerive Museum, together with Museum of Design, is affiliated to Zurich University of the Arts.

Bellerive Museum is located very close to the lake… in the region where many people walk, relax etc on a warm day :) thus a visit to the museum and the walk can be easily combined on a weekend day.

Until 23.09.2012 the museum is hosting a very cool exhibition - Jewellery Unleashed! 

I visited it at the beginning of June. It is an exhibition that presents Jewellery as art… various concepts, materials. some pieces would be wearable, many not really. the visitor also gets a book with a short description of every piece… thus he/she finds out that a certain collier is made out of thousands of rabbit teeth.

also got this brooch at the flea market today… the lady selling it said it’s silver…i doubt it. on the back is written “Colleen Crosby”…googled it, but haven’t found much info… there is this old article in LA Times, that says “Look for Colleen Crosby’s acid-etched-on-silver jewelry, based on pre-Colombian designs” anyone knows more? :)

yesterday I found out about another flea market in Zurich another…because I know about one, which is really central (Bürkliplatz), been there once, but it seemed kind of too overpriced. this “new to me” one is in Helvetiaplatz (Zurich) and takes place during the warm season, on Saturdays, from 8 am to 6 pm… of course I got there late, when the “good deals” are gone :)) anyway, I got this brooch (let me be cool and say “vintage brooch” :)) ) and the bracelets…the bracelets also look pretty vintage. they didn’t come together. they were in a pile of various jewellery… I made this “collection” and asked “how much?”. also, what i find interesting about flea markets like this one… there are all kind of people, both on seller and buyers side. some come to buy cheap clothes for their kids, others are the cool kids or grown-ups that come for vintage stuff… will be back there :)
