2013 - make it happen

at least one trip to London, soon

source

source

and if i like it, 2013 - move me there :)) or if not there - to Amsterdam, Barcelona, or back to Zurich, or somewhere new(?)

for the second half of 2013 - trip to Cuba and the surroundings.

source

generally, somehow i would like to see more of Latin America. I haven’t seen Greece yet, neither Turkey… hm.

at the moment, a trip to London is possible (have the money for)… the rest (and more) - 2013, make it, somehow, happen :)) well, yep, an interesting and okish paid job is something urgently needed :)

Smith & Burrows - When The Thames Froze

Christmas song off a Christmas album from last year (entirely signed by these guys)

God damn, this snow
Will I ever get where I wanna go
And so I skate, across the Thames
Hand in hand, with all my friends
And all the things, that we planned
My son’s eyes in the outline of his hand
And even though I hate the cold
A constant reminder that I’m getting old
Another year draws to its close, entire London slows
When I dream tonight, I’ll dream of you
When the Thames froze

God damn, this government
Will they ever tell me, where the money went
Protesters march out on the street
As young men sleep amongst the feet
Another year draws to its close, entire London slows
When I dream tonight, I’ll dream of you
When the Thames froze

So tell everyone that there’s hope in your heart
Tell everyone or it will tear you apart
The end of Christmas day, when there’s nothing left to say
The years go by so fast, let’s hope the next beats the last
Tell everyone that there’s hope in your heart
Tell everyone or it will tear you apart
The end of Christmas day, when there is nothing left to say
The years go by so fast, let’s hope the next beats the last

received a beautiful postcard from London today… it travelled for one month :) it would’ve been faster even in the ancient times, when horses were used as means of transportation.
anyway, i think my next destination should be London
p.s.: postcards are cool

Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games

I really enjoyed watching the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, which started at 11 pm and ended at almost 3 am, for me. There was theater, humour, psychedelia… and lots of good music (live or recoreded) that was a proper soundtrack for the event and the place it is taking place - Sex Pistols, Underworld, The Chemical Brothers, The Beatles, Fuck Buttons, Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones, The Clash, U2, New Order, The Prodigy, Dizzee Rascal and others, and in the end Paul McCartney. no one doubts this, the UK has it, when it comes to music.

now, it’s not only the general and sports media writing about the Olympic Games, but also all the music magazines etc. :)

The soundtrack of the Opening Ceremony is already on iTunes… me waiting for it to appear somewhere else :)

and looked for some pictures of the moments that I especially liked

maybe not part of the show, but

Queen Elizabeth picking her nails when Great Britain marched into theĀ  stadium :) people in the tribunes, the sportsmen/women and the whole country full of emotions, but the Queen is too cool :) I agree, a problem with nails can be very distractive (own experience :)))

in front of every Olympic team, alongside the flag bearer, there was a person holding a sign with the country name…and a person carrying a bucket. many people, including the BBC commentators, wondered what were those for… so in the end most said - “oh, this is what they are for”. great concept…kind of makes every country part of the Olympic flame.

then, I liked that the flame was lit by young athletes, not sports stars.

and David Beckham looking very content while driving the speedboat

the dance performance choreographed by Akram Khan. He was among the dancers too. and I thought - oh, how cool, I’ve seen his most famous performance in Zurich - Vertical Road.

the hospital, kids, nurses, fairy tales part looked surreal…

now googled about it and found a recent news related to the hospital that was featured in the event - Kane Gorny inquest: Hospital neglect contributed to death. hm.

there was also a scene with jumping punks (with huge puppet heads)…but cannot find a photo.

also liked how the part with melted steel worked…then it becoming an Olympic circle

and of course the fake Queen parachuting (nice legs :) )

also observed the ethnical diversity of the actors/volunteers involved in the show.

Danny Boyle - Artistic Director for the opening ceremony…(and Director of these movies, among which Slumdog Millionaire) - made it entertaining, contemporary and cosmopolitan.

photos taken from here, here and here and maybe somewhere else.

P.S.: while I’m good at ‘spotting’ the music… this doesn’t apply to movies. I’ve noticed some references, but the guy from The New Yorker noticed more: Movie-Spotting at the Olympics
