the music for Queen of the Gypsies was written by a Moldovan composer Eugen Doga…

and he is also the composer of this waltz, from My Sweet and Tender Beast (Russian film).

oh, and the director of this movie is the same as of Queen of the Gypsies, Emil Loteanu, also from Moldova.

a movie called:

in Romanian - Satra

in Russian - Табор уходит в небо

in English - Queen of the Gypsies (or Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven)

it is a 1975 Soviet film… but the main people here are from Moldova - the director - Emil Loteanu; the lead roles - Svetlana Toma and Grigore Grigoriu, the composer - Eugeniu Doga…

well, most of them were working mainly in Moscow…cause such where the times.

anyway, if you happen to find this movie, watch it, truly beautiful… lots of love, wisdom, gypsy traditions, great music there… and gypsy fashion :)

after many years and various realities… to me true gypsies are the ones from the movie.

because of this movie, I fell in love with long large floral skirts… and when I had the possibility (around 7-8 years ago) I sew one (well, I paid and somebody else did the sewing)… this one
